Biography

Cassandra Belony graduated from Florida State University with a BA in Theatre. She starred in plays addressing racial injustice and domestic violence before writing her first play, Strange Fruit on a Burning Tree, in 2017. Through a mentorship program, she developed her skills in writing and directing. In 2019, she adapted her short story into the script Melancholic Verse, which she also directed and starred in. Her second short film, We Good Project, about a student filmmaker reuniting with friends, was screened at multiple festivals and won the dramatic comedy award at the Creative Horizons Festival. Her latest project, Rozayy So Unfiltered, is available on YouTube. She actively pursues her passion for acting, writing, and directing through her production company, A Kaasun Feature Productions. In addition, she has recently released a book that follows the journey of a young girl as she uncovers her passion for writing.
